Steve Britton, The Mini Reunion Expert

The Mini Reunion Expert

Steve Britton is an experienced entrepreneur and internet visionary. After watching social media change the way people communicate, Steve decided to change it back, because connecting online is not really connecting at all. His belief that meeting old schoolmates face-to-face is the best and most rewarding way to communicate with them.

As a pioneer in the Mini Reunion Revolution, Steve administers Myoldclass.com, a website dedicated to planning and enjoying mini reunions between old schoolmates. The free site allows users to reconnect with old friends and associates from the past, and then to plan outings with them. Myoldclass.com grew out of Steve’s frustration with formal–and cumbersome–school reunions that seemed to be declining in both popularity and attendance. He came across the mini reunion phenomenon, and now believes that it offers the best and most convenient way for people of all ages and persuasions to reconnect with old friends and schoolmates.

Before starting Myoldclass.com, Steve worked with Fortune 500 companies to implement “green strategies” for recycling unwanted assets instead of simply disposing of them. Over the years, Steve got involved in web-to-print technologies, and started several publishing businesses using his expertise. He now devotes virtually all of his time as a disciple of the Mini Reunion Revolution, and both writes and publicly speaks about it with passion.

Steve resides in the Philadelphia area, having attended Cinnaminson High School and LaSalle University. Married for 29 years, Steve and his wife are the proud parents of three grown children who are finished with college and out on their own. Steve volunteers coaching sports–both football and baseball–with several local little league teams, where he volunteers his time and expertise.

  • Old Opportunities February 20, 2012
As an entrepreneur, I am always working—and I am never working. For many years I have enjoyed the luxury of earning an income doing the things that I thoroughly enjoy on my own schedule and at my own pace. Many of my present business adventures are all based on the Internet, which allow me the flexibility to work anywhere I happen to be, any time I want to w […]

  • Hug Your Valentine February 14, 2012
Today of course is Valentine’s Day. Don’t forget to give your Valentine a big, big hug. I’ve always wondered about this day. It’s certainly a day that everybody recognizes—we all know that today is Valentines Day—but it’s not really a holiday. All those people who know that it’s Valentine’s Day know it from work. Now don’t get me wrong here—I basically like […]

  • A Heck of a Long Time February 8, 2012
While doing some research for a report I was writing recently, I stumbled upon some amazing facts about Facebook. Now before I tell you what I discovered, I’ll admit that I’m fascinated—and a little bit dismayed—by the amount of time that people spend online in general and on social media sites in particular. The Internet is a powerful tool that has changed […]

  • Who Needs Enemies February 5, 2012
Imagine having a friend who never called or wrote to you. They never sent you a text message or an email. Or worse, suppose you were sitting at a restaurant and this “friend” was sitting right next to you, but didn’t say anything to you. In fact, they didn’t even acknowledge you–mainly because they didn’t really know who you are. Would this person really be […]

  • A Meeting of the Minds February 2, 2012
In my business there are still things that I insist upon. When there is something that needs to get done, we do it in person. Of course I am aware that there are plenty of technical options available, all intended to keep people from having to get together in person. Granted, there are times when people have to share ideas and information remotely. There rea […]

  • Getting In Touch With More Than A Keyboard January 27, 2012
Everyone needs friends. And I’m not talking about the folks who have clicked on your Facebook friend button. To me, a friend is somebody that you actually call up and talk to. Somebody who you meet for a drink, or go out and do something with. Somebody who you actually spend time with, face to face. In other words, a classic friend, not an online e-buddy. I […]

  • Who Really Needs Reunions? January 24, 2012
Sometimes class reunions are a big hassle. First of all, as each 5-year milestone from when you graduated comes around, there is a collective groan from all of the old schoolmates. Here it comes again…I can’t believe another 5 years has gone by…I must be getting really old. That’s just the start of it. After the initial shock of another 5 years flying by pas […]

  • The Hidden Cost of Social Media January 20, 2012
One of the best things about social media is that it’s free. As long as you have a computer and an Internet connection, you’re good to go. You don’t even need to own this stuff—a visit to most local libraries is all it takes to log onto your account and start interacting with your e-friends. But I’m working on an article right now about social media, and my […]

  • Schoolmate Geography January 17, 2012
I had an interesting discussion the other day with a friend I’ve known for awhile. He wasn’t a fellow alumnus of my high school—I attended Cinnaminson High—but, according to him, as his father used to say, we went to different schools together. I graduated in 1971, and he graduated in 1972 from a high school a little farther north. He mentioned how amazing i […]

  • Mini Reunions Are Fun, But… January 14, 2012
Mini reunions are fun, but class reunions can be a big hassle. That’s right—sometimes those big, formal class reunions can become a major headache for everyone involved, including the old schoolmates who choose to attend it. Don’t get me wrong here. I think it’s exceptionally important for schoolmates to get together and to reconnect. But I’m no longer so su […]
